Hotel Information

Embassy Suites by Hilton Downtown Denver Convention Center

This year, the conference will be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Downtown Denver Convention Center (1420 Stout St, Denver, CO 80202) in Downtown Denver, Colorado.

Due to overwhelming interest in this year’s Gathering, the TCSF room block at the Embassy Suites Denver Downtown Convention Center is now sold out.

Attendees may still check availability at the Embassy Suites at the standard hotel rate by calling 303-592-1000 or visiting hilton.com. There are several additional hotels within 0.1 mile of the Embassy Suites, offering a variety of price points and amenities. We encourage attendees who still need accommodations to explore nearby options in the Denver Convention Center area.

Event Registration

There is no cost for SCN8A families to attend the Annual Gathering, but registering by November 5th helps us use our resources wisely and ensures we properly prepare for everyone attending, including name badges, meals, welcome bags, and more. This year, SCN8A families that register by November 5th will receive a free conference t-shirt for each person attending (youth and adult sizes available). What to expect

When should I arrive?

Every Annual Gathering is a little bit different depending on the location of the event; however, we try to deliver the same opportunities for learning, collaboration, and community building every year! Most families choose to arrive Thursday and depart Sunday. Programming will begin Friday midday and end Saturday afternoon.

Is food included?

Dinner is included on Friday, and lunch is included on Saturday. Complimentary breakfast is available at the Embassy Suites Downtown Denver for those staying at the hotel.

What is the programming like?

Friday will consist of a welcome and SCN8A family education in the early afternoon, followed by the scientific conference with clinicians and researchers in the evening. Saturday is SCN8A family day and will include family-focused discussions and education in the morning, followed by a fun community-building activity in the afternoon.

Are children welcome?

All are welcome at every Annual Gathering event, and we strive to create an environment where individuals of all ages with SCN8A-related disorders and their families feel comfortable participating in whatever way works best for them. Our scientific and medical partners value the opportunity to connect with the community and learn from the diverse lived experiences of those affected by SCN8A. Everyone in attendance understands that medical events, unexpected interruptions, or the need to step away may occur, and we encourage attendees to do whatever they need to care for themselves or their loved one.

What should I wear?
  • Friday afternoon meet and greet/education: casual
  • Friday evening conference: This will be a more professional setting with dinner and presentations. Speakers, professionals,  and TCSF staff will wear business casual or business professional attire. Families and volunteers are welcome to change into business-casual clothing for the evening event if they choose, but casual attire is also appropriate.
  • Saturday family day: Casual. Families are encouraged to wear the conference t-shirt for our group photo!
How much does it cost?

There is no cost for SCN8A families to attend the Annual Gathering. Registering by November 5 helps us use our resources wisely and ensures we properly prepare for everyone attending, including name badges, meals, welcome bags, and more. This year, SCN8A families that register by November 5th will receive a free conference t-shirt for each person attending (youth and adult sizes available).

Families who need help with travel costs are encouraged to apply for the Dr. Mandy Harris Travel Grant by September 1st.

Should I be concerned about altitude in Denver?

Denver sits at an elevation of approximately 5,280 feet (1,609 meters). The higher altitude may affect both individuals with SCN8A-related disorders and their travel companions, particularly those who are not accustomed to higher elevations. Some people may acclimate well, while others may experience mild symptoms such as fatigue, headache, dizziness, shortness of breath, or dehydration during the first day or two. Serious complications are rare, but they can happen. We encourage all attendees to stay well hydrated, take it easy upon arrival, and allow extra time to adjust as needed.

If you or your loved one have a medical condition that may be affected by altitude, please discuss your travel plans with your healthcare provider before your trip.

“Faces of SCN8A” Banner Submission

Every year TCSF creates a banner with photos of all SCN8A patients who submit a current photo. The banner is displayed at the Annual SCN8A Researcher, Clinician, and Family Gathering, as well as on social media. Whether you plan to attend the Gathering or not, you are invited to submit a photo for the banner. Please complete the form even if you have done so in years past.

Submission Deadline: November 15, 2026

Nominate Your Doctor

Each year, TCSF recognizes people who go above and beyond for the SCN8A community through our CUTIES Awards. Whether you plan to attend the Gathering or not, we invite you to nominate an SCN8A clinician who has made a difference in your life or your loved one’s life. This could be a doctor who has provided exceptional care, supported your family, helped improve understanding of SCN8A, or made a meaningful difference in the broader SCN8A community.

One Clinician CUTIES Award will be presented at the 2026 SCN8A Clinician, Researcher, and Family Gathering in Denver. Your clinician does not need to be in attendance to win. Your submission may be read during the awards ceremony. Nominations that are not selected may be saved for future years.
